Hi, I’m Yunhao. I was born in Chengdu, grew up in Shenzhen, and spent some time studying in Singapore. I came to the US for school in 2017 and have stayed ever since, studying, working and living here. These days I live in San Francisco and work as a software engineer at Notion.

Tech

I’m into data and AI. I like building large-scale, reliable data infrastructure, and finding elegant, simple ways to keep data flowing steadily in service of analytics and products. Lately I’ve been exploring AI, especially reinforcement learning, local LLMs, and AI with personality. Can a model have its own way of thinking and judging, rather than just imitating how a person talks?

Art

Art is where my inspiration comes from. I love ceramics, painting, dance, fashion, music, film and photography. I draw on them constantly, and they bring a lot of joy to my everyday life. What moves me most is art with a fierce personal voice: work that could only have come from one person, that takes a stance and doesn’t try to please everyone. I dance, make pottery and shoot film myself, chasing a little of that feeling.

Life

A BMW Z4. Two cats.
